Five nice things that Stannis receives, much to his confusion, and the one nice thing that he expected to get.

Dragon Age
Muscle Memory; Mahariel/Alistair/Zevran, T, 1,070 words.
Mahariel’s heard about contagious mannerisms before. She gets to see the phenomenon in action once again.

Five things Albus could not bring himself to say to Gellert. (One of them is a lie.)

Where Michaela and Laurel end up sleeping together and definitely don’t talk about feelings, or anything silly like that.

After their first time in the drift, Annalise doesn’t speak to her for three days.

Mad Max: Fury Road
Heartbeats; The Valkyrie/Furiosa/Toast, Ex., 1,500 words.
Toast cares little for the poeticism of simple survival; she wants to live.

Mass Effect
A Catching Sickness; Liara/Kasumi, G, 1,770 words.

After Alchera, Cerberus approaches Ashley with an offer. She accepts.

Elder Blossoms; Koris/Geth Hunter, G, 5,550 words.

Peridot and Lapis go on a road trip.

The Last of Us
Tradition, Alive; Ellie/Riley, G, 2,600 words.
There are faint recollections that sometimes roil at the back of Riley's mind (steaming cups of burnt cocoa, her mother’s voice all sweet and birdlike, old cards with snow-scapes and time-worn ‘wishing you were here’ messages).

Uncharted
Better Than None; Chloe/Nadine, G, 2,790 words.
“Morning, partner,” she says, sinking back into the cot, on her side. “I’m sorry, Chloe,” Nadine replies.

Mrs. and Mrs.; Chloe/Nadine, T, 8,000 words.
One thing Chloe’s learnt working with her new partner is that there’s often simplicity in numbers, if that number is two.

RSVP; Chloe/Nadine, Ex., 5,880 words.
“Dear Ms. Ross, you are hereby formally invited to a lengthy excursion into Chloe Frazer’s pants. Please bring strong fingers, all the flexibility you can muster, and a can-do attitude.”

The Apple and the Tree; Chloe/Nadine, T, 6,360 words.
Five ways in which Nadine is her father’s daughter, through and through. (And the one way she doesn't fit the mould.)

Wolf 359
Untamed, Untranslatable; Hera/Maxwell, G, 2,250 words.
Hera and Maxwell emerge from ‘Memoria’ with some unexpected side effects.

and about 20,000 words towards a cheesy lesbian romance novel.

Overall Thoughts:

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted? less. as always. for each year. i sometimes think back to that year i words 100,000 words of fic... those days are never coming back. life gets harder every year and i get more depressed and no matter how much free time i have i seem to write less... but it's still something i love doing and i'll do it forever.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January? definitely didn't see myself writing so much chloe/nadine. i knew i wold ship it from the moment i saw the reveal trailer but... they hit me like a tonne of bricks. <3 i also didn't see myself starting a novel, but hey, i did! :)

What's your own favourite story of the year? it's a fluffy, sappy, self indulgent mess but elder blossoms takes the cake. i LOVED writing my sweet geth oc and my favourite old man admiral. i have so many stories to tell about them! also, i love all the stories i write for exchanges, but i do have extra affection for those i write on my own steam.

What's the WIP you really wanted, but didn't get to finish? um, my novel i guess. (current placeholder title: witchy business.) i started in the middle of november as a belated nanowrimo project and i didn't really expect to finish, but for a while i kept up a very respectable 1,000 per day goal and felt very proud of myself.

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them? risks? gosh, not really. not this year or the year before. i remember saying back in 2015 that i wouldn't enter any more exchanges because i don't do well under pressure, and while that remains true, i still entered yuletide and gotex and femex and holly poly and while i did find myself scrambling sometimes, it worked out well. lmfao. i guess i learnt that the one surefire way of making myself write is entering an exchange. but i already knew that. :p

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the new year? the last time i did this meme at the end of 2015, i resolved to write more about black people. of the 20 stories i finished these past 2 years, 12 of them featured black protags! (counting maxwell whose race was never confirmed afaik and my shepard and mahariel, both of whom i headcanon as black.) so whoo! this year, i just want to finish a novel. preferably the one i'm currently writing, but if i get a new idea and start on that, that's fine too. i just want to FINISH something and think seriously about getting published. ;;

From my past year of writing, what was...

My best story of this year: huh! don't know... i haven't really wowed myself this year with anything. i do think there are a couple passages in the beholder that are really good character-wise, and heartbeats has some lines that i really enjoy lyrically. and i think i did some decent character interaction in tradition, alive. but no, none that i would point to as the very best.

My most popular story of this year: mrs. and mrs. everyone loves 'undercover as a couple fics' hehe. it's one of my favourite tropes and i think this was my first time writing it.

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: i'm actually very proud of between stars, on stars. i fell in love with ashley all over again while writing it. she's such a good protag, such a good head to get into. and in my biased opinion more people should get into this ot3 and read my fic. :3 same goes for nouvelles de la rose. pls watch 'mystère à la tour eiffel'!!!!

Most fun story to write: a catching sickness! kasumi's voice is sooooooo fun and she and liara made the fucking cutest couple, once i started thinking about it. and writing fun banter is my favourite thing.

Story with the single sexiest moment: to the victor. :9 i like what i like and and i write what i like.

Most "holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: nothing like that.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: untamed, untranslatable. my perceptions of hera and maxwell didn't shift per se, but this was my first time writing this fandom and getting into their heads (and putting them out of their heads) was neat!

Longest story: pushing by like hearts. i knew a road trip fic was going to be long, but this got way longer than i expected... and i enjoyed writing every part of it. multimedia fics will always be kind of gimmicky to me and i was so nervous gifting this to someone, but i feel like it fit with the fandom and the theme and it was just a fun time. 13,000 words of gay rocks. :)

Shortest story: a metaphor for change. actually a very old fic that i dusted off and edited for ao3. i was actually laughing thinking about this earlier, because if i wrote this same fic in 2017 it would have been at least 4,000 words. lmao.

Hardest story to write: probably between stars, on stars. i stalled for a long time while writing it, and while i do like the end result, i struggled a lot on putting it all together.

Biggest disappointment: i wish i could have done better with muscle memory. i dashed it off quickly when it became clear that i wouldn't finish between stars, on stars on time for my holly poly recip. it's definitely not my greatest work. i'm glad that it was written, because i do love the three of them dearly. just wish i'd done a bit better.

Biggest surprise: truer than steel. i finished my gotex assignment (the beholder) and then realised that it didn't totally fit my recip's request. i felt really bad, so i churned that out as quickly as i could. (it of course got longer than planned.) i'm pretty proud of it, for being so last minute. and i enjoyed writing stannis from all those different viewpoints! :)

Most unintentionally telling story: um. there's a certain line in live long; let go that's literally all me. let's not say which. :x
